Hailed as a “beast on the keyboard” (The Utah Review), pianist Sergey Belyavsky has captivated and amazed audiences worldwide. He is noted for showcasing “an extraordinary expressive intelligence” (Bachtrack) and has earned the title of “one of the best pianists in the world today.” As a soloist, Sergey has graced stages across the globe in venues like Victoria Concert Hall (Geneva), Abravanel Hall (Salt Lake City), Weil Hall in Carnegie Hall (New York City), Salle Gaveau (Paris), and Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), among many others.

Sergey gained widespread acclaim by securing prizes in numerous prestigious international piano competitions. Among them are the Gina Bachauer Competition in Salt Lake City, the Budapest Liszt Competition, and the València International Piano Competition Iturbi. His most recent achievement includes the second prize and the audience prize at the 76th Concours de Genève (2022). Belyavsky has also released four solo CDs, most recently featuring the music of Schubert and Liszt on the KNS Classical label. “He offers sonorities of surprising diversity and complementarity, combined with finesse and precision” (Bachtrack). “A powerhouse of a player…” (Limelightmagazine.au).

Starting on October 17, 2023, the Emerson Center Box Office will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Belyavsky’s conceptual program will encompass the following pieces:

  • Schumann “Vienna Carnival,” Op. 26
  • Schumann “Carnival,” Op. 9
  • Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No. 9 “Pest Carnival”
  • Rosenthal and Saint-Saëns
